You are purchasing 10 bare root Golden Seal plants, also known as orange root or yellow puccoon. This perennial herb, native to southeastern Canada and the eastern U.S., is recognized by its thick, yellow, knotted root stalk. The stem is purplish and hairy above ground, turning yellow below where it connects to the rhizome. The plant has two palmate, hairy leaves with 5-7 double-toothed lobes, and small, inconspicuous flowers with greenish-white stamens in late spring. It produces a single berry resembling a large raspberry with 10-30 seeds in summer. Golden Seal is noted for its various herbal properties. Hardy in zones 5-8, it can be easily cultivated in full to partial shade in beds or wooded areas. We do not ship to HI, AK, or P.R. Planting instructions are included with every order.
