At the start of the 2012 King Crab season, Captain Sig Hansen squared off with younger brother Edgar, who was trying to take over the captain's chair from Sig. The fight was fuelled by bad blood that had been brewing for decades, a fight that started in 1977, when father Sverre first built the infamous 125-foot F/V Northwestern. Raised in Norway, Sverre learned from his father a style of fishing that was highly successful, but brutal on the crew. At a young age, Sverre put his three sons - Sig, Norman and
Edgar - to work as Northwestern deckhands. Since Sverre's death in 1991, oldest brother Sig has run the Northwestern with an iron fist, while his two younger brothers have toiled on deck. It's clear to everyone but Sig that he'll have to Hand over the helm for good one day and even though Edgar got a taste this past year, Sig has made it clear that he won't be retiring from the wheelhouse anytime soon. Will all that bad blood tear these brothers apart before it's too late? Follow the Hansen family during the summer off season as they try to juggle the Northwestern's tendering operation (where Sig's daughter is a deckhand) and their own family obligations.
