You are purchasing 20 bare root Golden Seal plants. Also known as orange root or yellow puccoon, Golden Seal is a perennial herb native to southeastern Canada and the eastern U.S. It is recognized by its thick, yellow, knotted rootstock. The plant has a purplish, hairy stem above ground and a yellow stem below, which connects to the yellow rhizome. It features two hairy, palmate leaves with 5-7 double-toothed lobes and small, inconspicuous flowers with greenish-white stamens in late spring. In summer, it produces a single berry resembling a large raspberry with 10-30 seeds. Golden Seal is known for its herbal properties.
