ReplacementRadios, one of the largest factory audio/video websites, has branched out!! If you’ve been to our site, you know we have a HUGE selection of OEM radios and compatible accessories. Now we’re offering a few select products here too. Same great ReplacementRadios quality.....in a new location.
This radio is a factory original OEM Honda part. It is brand new and has never been installed. It's a great way to add MP3 playback from CDs and get an auxiliary jack so you can plug in a MP3 player, portable satellite radio tuner, etc. Technically it is a 2005 Honda Civic part number but it can be used in all the applications on the list below. Same plug, same size and same mounting holes as the double-DIN radios. (If you have a single-DIN radio with a storage tray above or below it, you will lose the storage tray.) The buttons light up red. It is not compatible with your steering wheel controls though, despite the plug being the same. (*See details below.)
- Honda Accord: 1998-2002
- Honda Civic: 1999-2000
- Honda Civic Special Edition: 2005
- Honda CR-V: 1999-2006
- Honda Odyssey: 1999-2004
- Honda Prelude: 1999-2001
*This radio is not compatible with steering wheel audio controls. The reason being; Honda has some known issues with their cable reel (which includes the steering wheel controls.) Vehicles with a worn cable reel experience erratic operation with this particular radio because of signal irregularities. (The radio thinks it's being told to do something because of changes in the signal, even though no steering wheel button has been pressed.) This problem does not affect all Honda radios the same. This particular radio is rather advanced in it's manufacture, design, and feature set, so it is more sensitive to the signal irregularities. It is not a problem with our radio though. No one wants to hear their vehicle has a problem but that's what it boils down to. It ONLY happens in vehicles that have a worn cable reel and the erratic operation goes away if the cable reel is replaced or the steering wheel control wire is cut. If you experience random station scanning, bouncing back and forth between modes, powering on and off, or other irregular/erratic operation, the problem is your cable reel. We have this reported to us about 2 out of every 10 sales on this radio. That's a relatively small percentage of vehicles but it's why we say it's not compatible with steering wheel audio controls. If it happens to you, please be aware it is a problem in your vehicle and we have absolutely no control over it. You should be prepared to replace your cable reel or disconnect your steering wheel controls, if necessary. (It is usually easiest to do this by cutting the wire where it goes into the radio plug.) Should you decide to return the radio instead, you may do so, as long as the radio is still in the exact condition it arrived in. (We can't resell something as new if the condition has been changed.) You will need to request a return following the procedures on this site. Please make sure to select the correct return reason though. The radio is not defective. Your steering wheel cable reel is. A reason such as 'Changed Mind' would be appropriate.*
Brackets are not included with these radios. Your brackets screw on the side of your current radio. You can remove them and put them on this one very easily. If you current radio is only single DIN (@2" tall), you will have to remove your storage tray to install this because it is a double DIN (@4" tall.)
This radio does not support or control the rear video system. (Be it DVD or VHS.) You would have to disconnect the video system from the radio. This will certainly result in loss of DVD/VHS audio through the vehicle's speakers. It may also result in complete loss of the video system. Please be prepared to potentially lose your video system if you install this radio.
This radio does require entry of a security code for operation. The code stickers are included.
