Florida Ironweed
Vernonia Angustifolia
 

The Florida Ironweed is a very lanky, tall flower that blooms bright Purple in late Summer.
This long-lived Perennial grows from 4 to 6 feet tall.
They are usually spotted near water, but grows in the Pine sand-hills too.

Ironweed is the larval host for the Spring Azure Butterfly.
It is always covered in bees and butterflies!
It grows well in zones 8-10.

Seed Starting

Sow outdoors in Fall for sprigs by Spring or
Place seeds in fridge for 8 weeks

Press seed into soil surface, lightly cover and keep moist
Seedlings will emerge in 2-3 weeks
