- Blue Fescue is a clumping ornamental grass that is easy to grow from seed. This strain will get about 12" tall and about 12" wide. Drought tolerant and shade tolerant. Low maintenance. Does well in the garden or in containers. Long life span (10 yrs.+). Can be divided year 3 and beyond. Needs to be cut down to 2" every spring, and that's about it. Pretty much a carefree plant once established. The seedling's will be green when young and turn blue as they mature. Mature plants will intensify their blue color with drought. This plant seems to do better with some neglect. Does not respond well to fertilizers. Maintains its color through winter. Cold hardy to about -20F. A great looking very low maintenance perennial grass. 1 Ounce = 42,000+ Seeds per order. Thank You!.
