Witcher-Characternik - the name of vedun, healer, spiritual counselor in the Zaporozhian Sich, who was engaged not only in witchcraft or fortune-telling, but also in the treatment of wounded Cossacks, their psychological and physical training, as evidenced by various eyewitness accounts, Ukrainian folk legends. According to the legends characterniki had magical abilities, which were used for the needs of the Zaporozhian Cossacks.
