Attracts hummingbirds. A drought & shade tolerant species that grows native in the USA and will take root in most any soil type (provided ample drainage occurs). The leaves have medicinal uses regarding womb troubles and to make strengthening tonics. Produces red, edible berries. The red berries don't taste like much but can be modified and added upon for better flavoring.

And, I don't know about you, but I enjoy sucking the sweet nectar out of the stamens just as much as the next kid does!

These climbing honeysuckle vines look great growing on a fence or twirled up a trellis. The orange flowers bloom May-July. The berry fruits follow shortly after. Vines grow up to 20 ft long.

Note: Orange honeysuckle plants are so hardy they can be considered invasive, however they are not banned anywhere in the US and are less invasive that some other Lonicera species. So, if you are looking for a honeysuckle vine bush that won't be on an invasive species list, this one is a winning choice.

Germination Procedure: Soak seeds in a glass of water for 24 hrs. Surface sow the seeds 1-16 an inch in the fall for spring sprouts. Otherwise, place seeds in moist paper towel, wrap the whole thing into a ziplock bag and place them in the freezer for 2 months to simulate winter conditions and break seed dormancy. Remove, and surface sow the seeds, lightly covering with an ultra thin layer of soil on top and sow when warm.
