This is a beautiful Inlaid wood picture shows a couple of peacocks in a landscape. It has been made in India and has a stamp/sticker on the front mentioning : port of Madras.

The back has a label saying : wit best compliments of Thiru M. Kalaivanan  , chairman Madras port Trust.

This nice marquetry picture was probably once a relationship gift of some kind.

I have tried to investigate the history but could not find it back.

Note :

Port of Madras is now called Port of Chennai, the name changed in the 90s around the same time that Bombay was named Mumbai.

Would also look stunning in a mid century decor.

A unique piece !
