Offered is a handcrafted, Santa Rosa pottery, folk art ginger/cookie jar made in Mexico. It has a deep teal green ground and is hand-painted with large fruits of the region in tones of orange, green and yellow. The decorative, ribbon-like handles are quite unique. This piece is in very good to excellent pre owned condition; no chips, cracks or repairs noted. There is some crazing to the glaze (requires magnification and a good eye to find). Please see all photos for more detail on condition. Signed by hand on base. Mayólica Santa Rosa is a Mexican company in the GUANAJUATO region with over 45 years of experience. Mayólica Santa Rosa uses the traditional Mayólica technique to produce ceramics through craftsman's hands, turning clay on the potters wheel into unique hand decorated pieces of pottery. The small irregularities in the clay, paint, glaze are common to handcrafted pottery of this type, and add to its hand-worked character.
