Vintage Photo Lot USS FORRESTAL July 4th 1976 President GERALD FORD x190

Item Description:

Up for sale is this lot of approximately 190 photos from 1976.  The majority of the pictures were taken aboard the USS Forrestal on July 4th 1976 for the bicentennial celebration.

Included in the photo lot are several pictures of President Gerald Ford at the bell ringing ceremony on the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal.  Including photos of before, during, and after his visit.

An OPSAIL “76/Bicentennial pass identifies M/SGT George Brassard aboard the USS Forrestal as the original owner/photo taker.

In 1975 the USS Forrestal was selected to be host ship for the International Naval Review in New York City on the nation's Bicentennial. On 4 July 1976, on Forrestal's flight deck, President Gerald Ford rang in the Bicentennial and reviewed over 40 tall ships from countries around the world.

About 70% of the photos were taken while aboard the USS Forrestal.

Just a quick look at the photos show:

-Multiple photos of aircraft getting ready and taking off from the deck of the USS Forrestal.

-President Ford addressing the crowd

-Aircraft being loaded onto the ship via crane

-A couple of pictures of the TWIN TOWERS

-Admiral James L. Holloway, III, USN with some other soldiers

-A lot of photos of ships taking part of the OPSAIL ’76 including several close ups

-A couple of the Goodyear blimp

-A couple of a medivac by helicopter aboard the USS Forrestal

This is by no means a complete list.
