1943 Oregon Chauffeur's Badge made from paper fiber/cardboard. Only made for one year, rare find.

Marked "Green Duck Co Oregon" which was a maker founded in 1906 for promotional pins and buttons. The lettering is still legible, along with other "hallmark" style marking above it, on the reverse.

These badges were created in an effort to ration metals for the war and replaced the traditionally used chrome-plated brass badges.

Because of this, and since they were worn every day by drivers, these paper badges rarely survived and those that did tend to have damage to the silver paint, warping to the backs, and rusty pins,  and illegible maker's marks. See photos, this one is in exceptionally good condition. The condition rivals others sold recently.
