A delightful look at many different room designs that were popular in the early 20th century.  This catalog shows "Art Deco" style wallpapers, painting motifs that one could achieve.  This book shows samples available to purchase wholesale for retail department stores, interior design firms, and general merchandise jobbers.

Profusely illustrated in color. Thoroughly engaging for the designing person. 

Paper / Soft cover edition in very good, like new condition. Firmly readable. Flex covers, bound with cloth spine, a sturdy book. Overall wonderful copy, informative resource, a delightful book with minimal wear.  General bookshop wear, may have some slight wear to edges and spine, stored flat. Would make a great gift for the fan in your life, even if that's you.

About the company:  

  -- Grantil , is a French wallpaper factory, active from 1838 to February 2013. Founded in Moselle, it will be, for several decades, one of the largest private employers in the city of Chalons-sur-Marne. (Source: French Wikipedia)

French Provincial manufactures: Away from Paris, several large French manufacturers contributed to the production of Art Nouveau wallpaper. Such is true of the Grantil factory which closed its doors in 2013 having been in operation for a century and a half. Its origins in fact date back to 1839 when Damien Grandthille joined the factory of his cousin Nicolas
Page in Metz. The business was transferred to Montigny-les-Metz in 1844 and Damien's brother Michel-Victor Grandthille, took the helm in 1851. Following defeat against the Prussians in 1870, he opted to stay in France, relocating his operations to
Chalons-sur-Marne where a new factory was built in 1872. Trading under the simplified version of the family name, Grantil, the factory saw its reputation grow. T he company won a Grand Prix at the Exposition Universelle of 1900 in Paris, in other words the highest possible accolade. The wallpapers which it presented, on a particularly elaborate exhibition stand, bore witness to an inspiration drawn largely from the Art Nouveau style, an aesthetic which predominated in its production for several years.   (Source: Musee Papier Peint, France).
