Box set containing three classic movies starring Frank Sinatra. In 'Tony Rome' (1967) Sinatra plays Tony Rome, a tough Miami PI living on a houseboat who is hired by a local millionaire to find a diamond pin stolen from his daughter. In the process of recovering the jewellery, he has several encounters with local hoods as well as the Miami Beach PD. 'The Detective' (1968) is based on the novel by Roderick Thorp. The film stars Sinatra as the tough-as-nails Detective Joe Leland. Called in to investigate the murder of Teddy Leikman (James Inman), the homosexual son of a well-connected department store mogul, Leland executes an open-and-shut investigation. He quickly elicits a confession from Teddy's crazy roommate, and the defendant is convicted and executed while Leland scores a promotion. But when the widow of an accountant seeks out the Detective to look into the circumstances of her husband's death, Leland uncovers some startling evidence implicating a corrupt New York City political machine. Finally in 'Lady in Cement' (1968), Sinatra reprises his role as private detective Tony Rome. When Tony discovers a woman encased in cement while he is out scuba diving, he is hired to find the killer. He soon finds she was involved in the Miami underworld and may have been killed as part of a gangland doublecross. As he tries to bring the killer to justice, Tony finds himself evading both cops and crooks.
