Romantic triple bill. 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' (2003) is a comedy about two people determined to prove a point. Andie (Kate Hudson) works on the advice column of a women's magazine, but she yearns to be a serious journalist. When her friend, Michelle (Kathryn Hahn), complains of being dumped, and her editor (Bebe Neuwirth) is looking for someone to write an article on how to win and lose a man in ten days, Andie jumps at the chance, witnessed by two women from an advertising agency. Ben (Matthew McConaughey), meanwhile, works for the same advertising firm and is trying to win a place on a very big account with a diamond firm. Egged on by his two female colleagues, Ben tells his boss that he is the man for the job as he can make any woman fall for him within two weeks. The scene is set: Ben and Andie are set up to choose each other for their hidden agendas, and the pair find that they have to work twice as hard to succeed... 'Sliding Doors' (1997) is a London-set drama starring Gwyneth Paltrow. Having been fired from her job at a PR company, Helen (Paltrow) runs to catch an underground train. Two storylines then unfold: in the first, Helen catches her train, meeting the charming James (John Hannah). Upon arriving home, Helen discovers her boyfriend Gerry (John Lynch) having an affair. She leaves Gerry and begins seeing James. Their relationship is placed in jeopardy, however, when Helen realizes that she is pregnant. In the second storyline, having missed her train Helen does not meet James and arrives home too late to catch Gerry. Gerry continues his affair with former girlfriend Lydia (Jeanne Tripplehorn), even when Helen becomes pregnant with his child. 'Ghost' (1990) is a romantic thriller in which murdered yuppie banker Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze) returns to Earth as a ghost to solve his own murder and protect his grief-stricken wife Molly (Demi Moore). As he cannot communicate directly with his wife, he turns to fake medium Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg) for help. Nobody is more shocked than Oda Mae to discover she has the genuine power to contact the dead. The film includes the famous, much-parodied, midnight pottery sequence.
