1921 Germany Notgeld (6pc) - "The White Lady of Orlamunde" A Tragic Ghost Story
Katherine, wife of Count Otto of Orlamunde, was left a widow with two children after the passing of her husband. Still young and beautiful, she eventually fell in love with Albrecht of Hohenzollern. However, she believed that her children were the reason that their romance could not proceed, and had decided to kill her two young children and bury their bodies at a place now know as Kind'l-Brunnen (Children's Spring).
Although history did not record what happened to her later in life, her apparition has since haunted the Hohenzollern family, appearing when one of their family is about to die. She has appeared in Kamnaten as well as their castle in Berlin. She has also appeared in their castle in Bayreuth during Napoleon's occupation and threatened the officers there, which prompted their immediate departure.
This lot will include 6 individual notgeld (emergency money) notes from Orlamunde and Stecklenberg in Germany, printed 1921. All will be in Extra Fine to Uncirculated (XF-UNC) condition. Face values between 50 to 75 pfennig. "The White Lady" theme. No duplicates.
