Puerto
Rico Fire & Casualty
The
Puerto Rico Fire and Causality Company of San Juan, PR was
established in 1965 and used a fire mark as their company symbol.
Their mark was based on the Fire Association of Philadelphia FA fire
mark. It shows the old fire plug with a length of hose, as on the FA
mark. However, it has the initials of the company (PR) on either side
of the plug, along with the wording "Puerto Rico Fire and
Causality Company" and "Established 1965" around the
edge of the mark.
This
mark measures approximately 8 15/16" X 11 9/16" and is of
heavy (over 5 lbs.) cast iron construction with two mounting holes,
top and bottom. The mark has a rustic looking front surface with a
very heavy coat of paint on it. There is some paint
loss/chipping/nicking on the front, which really adds to the great
vintage look and feel of the mark. This is a nice item and would make
an excellent addition for fire mark, fire fighting or insurance
memorabilia collector.
