In very good to excellent condition. This is a large elegant porcelain covered box. The Musketeer or Cavalier Scene signed Dixon was used by the Royal Bayreuth Company in Germany at the first part of the 1920s. Item is unmarked. Since I can find no other boxes with this scene on it (mostly it was used on vases, trays and pitchers) it could have been made by a worker for gift to family member. This was a common practice at the time. Box measures approx. 8 1/2 inches in diameter and is about 4 inches deep. Box lid is the type that is removed using both hands due to size. Artwork is sign Dixon. This type of dresser or vanity box was used to store hankies, collars, hair pieces or other items too large for a regular size powder or trinket box.
