Hollister originally published his history in 1857 but completely overhauled his initial work and republished it in 1869. He begins with Indian history and later moves on to colonial history and gold, silver, and lead mining. He details the history of various towns, such as Scranton, and of prominent (White) settlers and citizens.
Original blind-stamped green leather boards with gilt titles. Brown endpapers. 22 engraved lllustrations including a map - most are full-page. 442 pages.
