A striking vintage Dutch advertising tin from the 1920’s - 1940’s (approximately) - Tjoklat Camee Pastilles. This tin was produced starting after World War II by Tjoklat-Fabriek of Amsterdam. It would have held the chocolate candies they were so famous for. The Tjoklat-Fabriek was founded in 1924. This pretty tin features the cameo style image of a woman holding her gown while extending her arm outward. Majority  of this manufacturers out there tins have a woman sitting/kneeling hold a plate of chocolates so this tin is unique.

Possibly from the 1920’s as it looks art deco/retro look.  The maximum outside measurements are 7 ¼ inches long,  4 ¾ inches wide and 1 ½ inches deep.

The friction fit non hinged-lid features wonderful tin-embossing, with a background colour of mustard yellow, and paisley designs surrounding all  sides.  The bottom is imprinted with TJOKLAT.FABRIEK NV  AMSTERDAM   translates “CHOCOLATE MADE IN NETHERLANDS AMSTERDAM”

The tin shows some scuffs,  abrasions and minor wear on the surface consistent with its age and use.  Tarnished in places but no major dents Lid is tight and even.  Not many oval ones out there – most are rectangular or round.
