Pseudotsuga menziesii var. menziesii, the coast Douglas fir is the
nation’s most important lumber species. It also accounts for nearly
half of all Christmas trees produced in the US. And, it's attractive
appearance makes it a poplar tree for yards, parks, privacy screens and
specimen trees and bonsai.

This
evergreen conifer tree prefers acidic or neutral pH soil that is
well-draining. Plant in full sun and partial shade in USDA Zones 5-8.
Ranges from 70-250 ft tall, up to 8 feet in diameter and can live to 500
years old. It's native range is west of the Cascade Mountains in the
Pacific Northwest to the Pacific Ocean from British Colombia to Northern
California.
