Be True to Your School, by Beach Boys, was a single released from the album Little Deuce Coupe. The song reached No. 6 on the Hot 100, as well as charting in Australia (No. 10), Canada (No. 4), New Zealand (No. 3), and Sweden (No. 6). The single features the melody of the University of Wisconsin's fight song, On, Wisconsin!, although it is a tribute to Hawthorne High School, which the Wilson brothers attended. The song is featured and/or referenced in many varieties of popular culture such as in the TV series Gilmore Girls, being parodied by Twisted Sister in the song Be Crool to Your Scuel, and it inspired the Ripped Pants song from the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants.
