During the Victorian period since bananas were not grown locally and were imported from a great distance if you had them in your home you wanted to show them off so that’s how the banana stand was created. You are buying a BANANA STAND in BUTTON PANELS by DUNCAN GLASS circa 1900. This stand is 9 1/4” tall x 10” long top x 6 1/2” wide top. This is a pressed glass and like any pressed glass there may be mould lines, straw marks, tiny bubbles, etc. found in any pressed glass. Your best pressed glass was fire polished to remove as many imperfections as possible. You find this kind of quality in your Elegant Depression pressed glass.
The condition is very good I have run my fingers over all the edges as well as visual inspection and find no chips, no cracks, and no cloudy/sick glass. You may find some rub wear and scratches mould roughness to the high points or underside of the base.
