First published in 1892, this copy has a neo/deco board design close to Rand McNally's sets of classics from the mid 19teens. Shaken, with hinge exposed at the FFEP. Jacket lacking. Boards spotted and soiled. Pages are creamy white and of thick paper stock associated with that era. A reading copy, with wear and bumps: see pictures.

Ms Ryan was considered an expert in Native American life shortly after this book was written, and claimed to have been the only white woman to have witnessed certain secret sacred rituals. She lived with Hopi from 1909 for a couple years. She married an itinerant actor in 1883, and was well-traveled by the time this book was written.

It is currently available as POD in paperback format.
