1878 antique POLITICAL REPUBLICAN campaign Nh PROHIBITORY TICKET Asa KENDALL
This listing is for the original paper campaign ticket shown "1878 Prohibition Party New Hampshire Asa S. Kendall Gubernatorial Campaign Ballot Ticket" featuring the the Prohibition Party Candidate for Governor, as well as three State Railroad Commissioners, R. Bartlett for Councillor, Luke Baker for Representation to Congress, plus Local Senator, Local Sheriff, County Solicitor, County Treasurer, Register of Deeds, Register of Probate, and Two Country Commissioners.
"1878 Prohibition Party Gubernatorial Campaign Ticket" measures approx. 7" by 3-7/8". At the top of the Ballot are the following slogans:
One with God a majority - Rev. J. Cooke
In God we trust.
Prayers are profanity unless ballots are right –Gen. Neal Dow
'VOTE AS YOU PRAY.'
Below that is the year 1878 and an American Flag, then the words, "Prohibitory Ticket.'
Kendal obviously did not win the governorship, and history did not record anything about him. Unusual since he ran in the Elections for several years.
Excellent original early family and/or town genealogy, history, antique, collectible heirloom and/or ephemera.
