Interesting item found at a recent estate sale. We don’t know if it was made during the Victorian Era or styled to look as such but it does have a nail at the top that holds everything in place when depressed and allows for frame to be opened when mail is removed. That is a decidedly Victorian closure. Additionally the frame design includes silver metalwork in the form of filigree. The back of the frame has a velvet backing and the inside is a leather material.
Frame is roughly 4”X3” and will fit an oval picture. Only marked STERLING on back. No other marks or hallmarks.
Picture frame is in remarkable condition for the age. Glass is unscathed and frame itself is in very good usable condition
