Come Unto Me – 8.5x11"

This is the resurrected Jesus, the welcoming Jesus. “Learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” That's the translation from the Latin in the mandorla around Jesus in this vintage German holy card,“Discite a me quia mitis sum et humilis corde et invenietis requiem animabus vestris,” (Mathew 11:29).Kühlen and Gladbach were German artists active in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. This is our favorite of their work, although they do have a Mary we also love. The phrase at the bottom of the picture “Cum approb. eccl.” means “with the approval of the Church,” i.e., the printer sought an imprimatur for their holy cards. This out-of-copyright holy card was in pretty good shape despite being over a hundred years old and only took an afternoon of restoration. 8.5 x 11 acid-free paper with archival ink. The print will last for generations when kept out of the direct sun. There is about an inch-and-a-third of white space around the picture. Cardboard backer. Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.IMPORTANT!!! The image is smaller than the paper. Standard size. If you would like us to frame it for you, please select a frame above, under "Framing".
