First Edition Poetry Book Signed By 1997 Oscar Winner Jack Palance (With Supporting Materials)---This is a one owner book personally purchased from Oscar winning Actor Jack Palance in January of 1997.Coming with the book is a copy of the story about Palance's appearance at a book signing in Columbia SC where the book was purchased. It was personalized to a couple who lives in South Carolina. With it comes a copy of his artful business card/bookmark with his personal address on it.
Palance broke into Hollywood movies by portraying tough guys (mostly bad). He was the son of Pennsylvania coal miner, a World War II Veteran having served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a Stanford University graduate and gained "a terribly crooked nose" in his 12-fight venture into professional boxing. Standing rugged looking with a crooked nose at 6 feet 4 in tall paved his way into western and gangster movies. He did not win an Oscar, although he was nominated 3 times, until 1991 and that for his performance in City Slickers. He died in November of 2006.
Also included is the full-page clipping from The State which reported on the event at which the book was purchased.
The book is in very good condition and illustrated with drawings made by Palance.
