Beautiful estate sale find in this mid century 1940's / 1950's Last Rites or Sick Call Crucifix in a wonderfully crafted walnut (we believe) wood slide open base that
serves as both a decorative item and a practical tool for administering
the last rites to the sick or dying. The two pieces (top and base) of the crucifix slide apart
to reveal a carved out compartment that holds the 2 glass holy water bottles (one marked, one unmarked) and set also includes 6 white unused candles. The
crucifix can be inserted into a carved slot to stand upright, creating a
portable altar for administering the last rites wherever you may be. The
vintage design adds a touch of timeless elegance to this essential
piece. INRI sign and Jesus are made of a molded and detailed composite plastic. Whether you are a clergy member or simply want to be prepared to
offer spiritual comfort to those in need, this Crucifix is an
essential item to have on hand. Weighted and sturdy, the back side has a pre-drilled hole to hang this treasure, if desired. Lovely vintage piece to add to any home.
Crucifix is in excellent vintage condition! No cracks or repairs! The usual light preloved dust and surface scuff wear to finish on edges and corners here and there, plus some wax residue around indented candle holders from years of Ethel keeping this piece hanging in her living room, but nothing that distracts from this treasure of history!
