VINTAGE NAVAJO NATIVE AMERICAN SOUTHWESTERN ART DOLL “WOMAN WITH PAPOOSE AT THE LOOM” - HAND-MADE, HAND CARVED - c.1955-1975
This vintage NAVAJO NATIVE AMERICAN SOUTHWESTERN ART DOLL “WOMAN WITH PAPOOSE AT THE LOOM” is hand-made and hand carved, and depicts this Navajo woman with her papoose, as she sits at her upright loom, weaving. She sits on a bed of sheep’s wool, dressed in a long skirt and tunic jacket, her hair in the traditional double bun. Her papoose is bundled and propped up for her to see as she works, weaving a native patterned rug. Her loom is a large upright floor loom. The base is covered in cotton fabric. This sculpture is a hand-crafted vintage item, made with beautiful natural fibers, all still intact, with even the facial details present.
Materials: Wood, sheep's wool, wool yarn, cords, nails, cotton fabric.
