The AP 100 is a key component of Symbol's award winning Wireless Switch System, the second-generation wireless LAN architecture that does more and costs less. When combined with a Symbol Wireless Switch, the AP 100 delivers feature rich IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11a/b wireless LAN connectivity. The Symbol AP 100 substantially reduces the cost of deploying, implementing and managing a wireless LAN, while significantly increasing features, functionality and security of the wireless LAN infrastructure.

Regardless of where the AP 100 is installed, LED lights are easily visible, providing visual feedback of the state of the Access Port.

The integrated (internal) 3.5 dBi omni-directional cross-polarized diversity antenna provides the strongest wireless coverage possible, regardless of how the AP100 is mounted. And since the AP 100 receives its firmware from the WS 5000 or WS 2000 Wireless Switch, the cumbersome, time consuming and error prone process of loading traditional access point firmware is eliminated.
