Anton Zakry (1900-1950 AD) an Egyptian linguist, archaeologist and historian. He was born in the city of “Tahta” in the Egyptian governorate of Sohag to a family of Coptic Catholics. He was passionate about ancient antiquities from a young age, so he devoted himself to studying history and ancient languages such as Coptic, ancient Egyptian and Hebrew. Zakry worked as a librarian at the Egyptian Museum, which enabled him to peruse many books and important references in “Egyptology.” His constant closeness to antiquities (by virtue of the nature of his work) also satisfied his intense passion for Pharaonic history, and he wrote many important books in this field, such as “The Nile in the Era of the Pharaohs” and “The Key to the Ancient Egyptian Language and Principles of the Coptic and Hebrew Languages” and “Literature and Religion among the Ancient Egyptians.” ».
