This metal and wood holder was made to hold various tumblers produced in the 1950s and 60s by several different pottery companies. I found similar holders used on Franciscan, Bauer, and Pacific pottery tumblers. These were usually made by a single company, and then sold to the various companies.

It has two round metal bands that are 1/4 inch wide. The top band measures approximately 3 3/8 inches across the widest point, the bottom band measures approximately 2 1/2 inches across at the widest point. The bands measures approximately 2 1/4 inches apart, the holder is approximately 3 1/2 inches in overall length from the top of the handle to the bottom of the smaller band. The tumbler that would have fit in this would have been flared at the top. Most of the flared tumblers I have seen were produced for Franciscan by Gladding McBean, California Pottery, or Pacific Pottery. Although I am sure there were others. This holder would have been for the larger tumblers.

The wood hand has a wonderful patina on it it, there is also the normal wear you would expect it to have. There is also some wear, light scratches, and very minor spots of rust on the metal bands. There is the slightest bit of movement with the handle where it is attached to the top band. This too is to be expected as wood does shrink the older it gets. This would add a nice look to any vintage tumbler from the 1950s - 1960s. The holder itself is unmarked.
