Hopi Kneeling Maiden Kachina Doll Hand Carved 8.5" Wooden Katsina Made in USA For your consideration is this sensational Hopi hand carved Kneeling Maiden kachina doll by Hopi carver McCabe.
This gorgeous kachina doll was hand carved out of top grade cottonwood and hand painted with dyes made from natural materials off the reservation. This Hopi Kneeling Maiden Kachina Doll is featured in a traditional but rarely carved position with a wooden rasp in her right hand ready to scrap the gourd in her left. This will produce the recognizable sounds that accompany the dances on the plaza. From her painted and decorated tunic to the shawl she wears on her shoulders, this lovely girl is charming. The hair is put up in Tewa-style knots (whorls) on either side of the head and she wears Turquoise and white seed bead earrings. Stands at about 8-1/2" tall x 4-1/2” wide. The base is signed "McCabe" along with an undecipherable signature. This Hopi Kneeling Maiden Kachina Doll may have been made as a gift but we're not sure. Will come with a Certificate of Authenticity. A wonderful piece of Hopi hand carved piece of art to add to your collection!
