Our tree is fruiting age and healthy. Thai people call Longan Kra-lok. If you have an indoor space with the sun for wintertime, this fruit tree will survive through winter. We have experienced keeping the tropical fruit tree indoor in winter and it grows new buds, new leaves, and flowers in spring. We leave them outside from late spring to fall and bring them inside in winter in zone 6. It must be under 60's and higher. Longan is a medium-sized tree originally from Southeast Asia. It can be pruned to maintain a small tree size. This lychee relative has stiffer leaves, more wind resistance, and fruits more prolifically and regularly than its famous cousin. The flesh is sweet and is usually eaten fresh but can be canned or dried. The crisp skin is easy to remove and the white flesh has a texture and sweetness reminiscent of litchi.
