For your consideration is an impressive and one of a kind antique Astro-Hungarian lidded cup or chalice, bearing Vienna's 1800s hallmark. The cup comes with a footed silver base also bearing Vienna's silver hallmark dated 1853 and the silversmith mark (we think it is Stephan Mayerhofer and Carl Klinkosche, but it is a little bit faded to accurately state so). The cup is dated 1855 plus the silversmith mark "PD". Please refer to the third photo of the listing for details. The cup measures 9.5" high to the tip of the finial and has a top open diameter of 3 3/4". The base measures 1 3/4" high by approximately 6" wide. Both pieces together weight 514 grams. The base and cup are in pretty good antique/used condition. There is a black stain on the base and some scratches on the bottom, made when testing it for silver (never understood why people do that...). This is a great silver piece that now can be yours! We do not disturb vintage sterling items in order to keep their original patina, leaving it to your discretion. To that end, you may polish or keep them in the same condition.
