Small evergreen flowering tree native to south eastern United States. It grows 16-43' tall with a spread of 20-30'. The twigs are red to grayish brown and very slender. When crushed the twigs and leaves emit a fragrance described as resembling almond extract. The fruits are tiny black cherries about 1cm in diameter, which persist through winter and are primarily consumed by birds. Great for natural settings, hedges, privacy fence. grow best in zones 7-10
