Description
This is a super cute and charming...not to mention unique...set of SEVEN (7) vintage embroidered tea towels / dish towels. Probably from the 40s or 50s.
They feature lively Chinese people doing kitchen chores, but in a playful way!
They play tunes on glasses, use pot lids for cymbals, juggle pots, pans and dishes, "direct" the music with long spoons and forks, and more!
Their long pigtails swing playfully. Sigh. So cute!
Asian-style labels: Pots, Bowls, Glasses, Dishes, Pans, Silver, and China.
They are hemmed all around with hand stitched running stitches in red.
The fabric is unbleached muslin with little flecks in it.
The embroidery is mostly in red, yellow, black, brown, and jadeite green.
They measure 29" x 18".
These were in my daughter's personal collection when her house was decorated with asian style collectibles. They are in immaculate condition - except one has a few yellow spots (from a guest who cleaned up spilled curry powder and she didn't find out until too late. It's not terrible, but not perfect. when the towel is folded, it doesn't show.)
I always loved these - they are just so adorable!
From a smoke-free home.
