Sodium citrate gives most lemon-lime soft drinks their signature tart flavor. Medically, it acts as an anticoagulant in blood so it can be stored for long periods of time. As a supplement, the salt can help restore healthy pH levels. When taken as a supplement Sodium Citrate acts as an alkaline agent for the prevention of kidney stones.
