#2 in the series, 8th Applewood edition, published in 1996, in excellent condition.
Copyright 1927, original 212 pgs, written by Leslie McFarlane under the Stratemeyer Syndicate pseudonym Franklin W. Dixon, and original artwork.
Drastically revised/condensed in 1959, 180 pgs., gutted and rewritten by Alistair Hunter. Only the title and author pseudonym are the same after 1959 - so here is the hard-to-find Applewood meticulously reproduced original book that is part of the "super first ten" books in the series, those ten being acclaimed as the best-written of the entire series, with this particular volume, #2, often cited as the very best-written of the canon.
This is an excellent text in a very good, vibrant, beautiful dust jacket with only the slightest shelf wear at the bottom of the dust jacket. No markings/writing besides a prior owner's name in the upper left corner of the pasted-down endpaper, obscured by the front dust jacket flap, and for that reason the price is reduced.
Applewood sales were not what was hoped, and these titles are now out of print.
NOTE: When we ship to an address within NY state, you’re out of luck. An 8.75% sales tax must be added to your purchase.
