1980s book on sewing with dozens of fabulous tips and tricks to make sewing easier and faster. 143 pages hardcover with dust cover. Chapters include standards like pockets, sleeves and necklines, and special extras such as belts, welt pockets, and dual-color hems! Also has information on stitching, buttonholes, darts, and tools; and even a section on applique! Part Two includes 15 patterns that you can copy or draft yourself. Throughout the book, monotone illustrations make instructions clear and easy to follow. Great tips and ideas are scattered throughout, such as adding a pussy-bow-style wrap tie to the top of a gathered waist skirt to hide the gathers and give an attractive finish to the waist area (Pg 19 Fig 2.6) or creating a decorative shell hem using only two rows of stitching (Pg 53 Fig 6.4-5). The patterns seem to be fairly easy to copy/draft and the instructions are clear. A great off-the-shoulder tunic for summer, and paper-bag waist trousers with a cozy hooded snuggler for winter get my votes! Excellent condition for a book that is nearly 40 years old! No visible wear on the book itself and only minor damage to the original dust cover.
