Triple Crown winner American Pharoah is greeted by jockey Victor Espinoza, left, and trainer Bob Baffert, right, as the horse arrives at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif., on June 18.
Owner Ahmed Zayat told ESPN.com that Triple Crown winner American Pharoah will make his next start in the $1 million Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park on Aug. 2.
He confirmed that gameplan in a text to The Associated Press.
Running in the Haskell would not preclude American Pharoah from running at Saratoga Race Course later in the summer. Logical options would be the Travers on Aug. 29 and the Woodward against older horses on Saturday, Sept. 5.
Zayat lives in Teaneck, N.J., and trainer Bob Baffert has won the Haskell seven times, including last year, when Bayern won it on his way to a victory in the Breeders' Cup Classic. Zayat and Baffert want to win the BC Classic with American Pharoah before retiring him to stud.
On June 6, American Pharoah became the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to sweep the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont. Only 12 horses have won the Triple Crown.
