Many fans of William Goldman's modern classsic THE PRINCESS BRIDE may not know that it was originally published with no mention of Goldman's name. To my knowledge, THE SILENT GONDOLIERS is the only other book he write as S. Morgenstern. This wry comic fantasy is praised on the back cover by such diverse writers in the genre as Stephern R. Donaldson and Robert Bloch. Many black and white illustrations of Venice and its people, with an emphasis on the book's central character, Luigi, plus "map" end papers. This is the only hardback edition published to date. Minor corner cover flaws and an inscription on the half-title page. The jacket shows a bit of edge wear, a small smudge or two on the covers (the other cover darkening is as published) and the price is blacked out on the front flap. All in all, a very nice, very tightly bound copy.
