2010 solo effort from the guitarist/vocalist of 1905. For the past two plus years, Nick Kirby has been working at releasing bits of music as Songs of August: with this record, it all finally comes together as a cohesive unit. Asked to describe this release, Nick writes: this is music to fill in the gaps that are just out of reach for hardcore and round out the musical picture of my experience. This is the other side of my coin. It's an avenue that allows me to express what can so often get lost in loads of volume and screaming with absolute clarity and undoctored delivery. Raw and exposed and available for those that might not appreciate the energy in hardcore that some of us find so beautiful. This is an opportunity to push myself in new directions and grow as a musician and a song writer; a space where I can explore without pressure and develop without expectation. I started writing these songs because I needed that additional outlet, that other space. Something different from hardcore, because that's not all of what I am.
