Up for sale is this precious vintage framed print of a happy Chinese boy by the artist Wylog Fong. At the bottom is the artist name and what would appear to be the date of (19)27. On the back is a label that reads; Fon Hay – Happy Boy. At the bottom is a copyright by L.A. Publishing Co.. I think the prints are from the 1940’s. It appears (especially with the label on the back) to be in its original wood frames brown paper on the back and glass. The frames are painted black with a thin gold line detail. They are in nice condition with great color, there is minor wear to the paint on the frames. There is a tear in the brown paper in upper right corner on the back. The frame size is 8 1/2” square by ½” thick.
Born in San Francisco's Chinatown about 1900. Fong studied art in Oregon at the Portland Museum School during 1919-20 and was a resident of that city during the 1920s. His specialty was Chinatown genre which was reproduced by the West Coast Engraving Company.
