Bill Mazeroski signed baseball William Stanley Mazeroski (born September 5, 1936) is an American former baseball second baseman who played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 19561972 and hit one of the epic home runs in major league history, a dramatic ninth-inning blast that decided the 1960 World Series and remains the only walk-off homer in a seventh game. Nicknamed "Maz" and "The Glove," the latter for his unparalleled brilliance in the field, he turned the most double plays (1,706) at second base in MLB history and was a Gold Glove Award winner eight times. Mazeroski took part in 10 All-Star Games and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001.
