About US: Welcome to Campbell Films. We are a small American family business, started by a father & son that collects old films. Our goal is to save old films from the trash heap and digitize them in HD for future generations. The Son went to film school and the father is passionate about history and assembles the content. The result is why folks comment positively on the "Quality and Content" of our old films transferred on our DVD's. Although we are not Hollywood, we think that you'll like these old historic films!

Please note;  Buy 2 or more of any of our DVD's per order from our collection, and we will add a free DVD along with this order of similar topic.

What's on this DVD:  Submarine D-1 "The Movie"

This DVD is about a very Rare Film called The Submarine D-1. Lots of great footage of old "S" boats and what the fleet called the 1st "Fleet Boat" because they were fast enough to keep up with fleets. We collect old films and we were pleased that this print was in such great shape. This story spins around the idea that if a submarine sinks in shallow water, would there be a way the crew can be saved? Filmed in 1937, the story is very eerie because it was thought that it was about the USS Squalus. However, the Squalus sank in 1939, which was 2 years later. Because of this, we decided to include footage of the USS Squalus to go with this old film. We hope that you'll thoroughly enjoy the collection, we certainly do. Great piece of Submarine history!

1st Film: "Submarine D-1, Part 1". This film starts with a couple sailor buddies who join the submarine fleet. After they join, meet their new training Boss - Pat O'Brien - and it just so happens they are all in love with the same girl - Doris Weston.  As they get their training, a tragedy strikes, and a freighter sinks the submarine. Runtime 38:29 Min's

2nd Film: "Submarine D-1, Part 2".  As the story moves along, Pat O'Brien or "Butch Rogers", develops a method by using a diving bell to save a crew if and when another sub sinks.  Runtime 59:45 Min's

3rd Film: "The Squalus Story". These are some newsreels on the sinking of the USS Squalus, the rescue, and finally footage of raising the Squalus. Great stuff.  Runtime 4:56 Min's

4th Film: "Photo Collection of the Squalus". Here are a few photos of before and after the sinking and raising of the USS Squalus. The Squalus was renamed the USS Sailfish, but her new crew called her the Squalfish. She served and survived WW2 and was eventually was sold for scrap, except for her coning tower which can still be seen today at Portsmouth Navy Shipyard. Runtime 7:48 Min's
