This CD was produced jointly by the Caledonian Society of Ornithology (SCO) and the WWF, within the framework of the Action Plan for the Safeguarding of Cagou, and in collaboration with Douglas Quin. Belonging to the University of Syracuse (United States), this specialist in sound recording in the natural environment was charmed by the concert of our forests. Equipped with microphones and specific recorders, Douglas thus surveyed for 2 months the humid forests of the North and South provinces (Foret de l'Aoupinie, Massif desevres, provincial park of the Riviere Bleue, etc.) in order to capture the songs exceptional that they shelter.
A notou which launches its bass sounds, a mountain weeder which whistles a melody, a cagou which "barks" at sunrise and gives rhythm to the music, or even a cuckoo with a fan which increases the scales... This CD allows you to discover over the course of a day the various soundscapes of the humid forests of New Caledonia.
Including a 16-page booklet on the forests and species heard, "Listening to the Caledonian Forest" also helps to realize that these habitats are threatened and that it is important to preserve them, so that the song of the cagou at sunrise...
