Vintage Cast Iron / Steel Railroad Mining Wheel measures around 11-1/2" Wheel Dia. about 14" Dia.at the Flange This is probably from a mine I am in central PA. and there were a lot of Anthracite Coal mines in our area and at one time there were also Iron ore mines and other industries.
The wheel has some definite wear this wheel has a groove worn into it by a cable appears that maybe this wheel was utilized as a idler/guide pulley for a cable system maybe to pull other carts up a incline. I don't know that for sure but there were a lot of coal breakers and tipples not far from here good for display
