Earlier in his writing career, ALISTAIR MacLEAN wrote two British thriller novels, using the pseudonym of IAN STUART.  With the popularity that his other novels had received throughout the 1960s (including the movie adaptations of THE GUNS OF NAVARONE, WHERE EAGLES DARE, ICE STATION ZEBRA, plus lesser films), his earlier two IAN STUART novels (THE SATAN BUG and THE BLACK SHRIKE) were eventually republished in the United States by Fawcett Publications, under the name of ALISTAIR MacLEAN.
